Totally Disgusted but Getting Better…

Posted in Extreme Couponing, Public Issues tagged , , at 7:08 pm by careenw

So,  I haven’t posted anything since the election.  I was just so totally disgusted about the results and the implications for the next four years.  I have already tried to pull my 401K but unless I leave my job I have to keep that money where it is.  But, that doesn’t mean I have to keep putting money in it.  Looking at putting everything in an IRA Money Market.  Just in case I have to make a run for it.  Also, a little concerned that my job may be in jeopardy once the new banking regulations come into play.  Does anyone else have a fear that their jobs will be gone once the new tax hikes go into place or Obama care starts?  Well, I have decided to start focusing on what I really need to do to plan for a future for my family.  Which means, I will be couponing like crazy and checking out every sale I can find.  Btw,  I have also been reminded that Thrift stores and Consignment shops ROCK!!!  Anything I can do to save a dime.  Then I am going to go bury those dimes in the back yard.

Everyone check out my money saving posts.  It’s almost Black Friday and the sales will be vast.

’Free gas’ offer triggers rush in NY before state says public must wait

’Free gas’ offer triggers rush in NY before state says public must wait.

Living in Alabama on the Gulf Coast I can appreciate what these people are going through.  I can only hope that the President Obama can pull himself away from his campain trail for a few moments to assist in making life better for the people of New York and New Jersey area.

First Thoughts: Why tonight’s debate could be so crucial, Part 2

First Thoughts: Why tonight’s debate could be so crucial, Part 2.

Not sure I agree with MSNBC but I do feel it is important to watch the debates to make sure you have all the information.  Sometimes watching the debates can make you really look at what someone is saying.

Suspicion of poll, jobs numbers takes hold on right.

Everyone needs to remember that little green book we all got in College, “How to Lie with Statistics.”  Ignore the polls and just get out an VOTE…  If you don’t get out and vote then you will have no right to complain if it doesn’t go your way.

McQueary Seeks $4 Million From Penn State

McQueary Seeks $4 Million From Penn State.

What a huge mess.  It is sad how the actions of one have ruined the lives of so many.  This makes the saying, “The sins of the father are passed on to the son.” so true.  The sins of Sandusky have been passed on not only to his victums but also to the school staff, students and alumi.  I can only hope and pray that everyone affected will one day be able to live a more normal life.

Just Some Thoughts on the DNC

Posted in Public Issues tagged , , at 1:12 pm by careenw

Ok, so my husband has been going on and on about the DNC this week and all the crazy that has been said or done. Also, I am getting updates constantly from all my FB friends as well as emails from all my contacts on facts that dispute what is being preached at the DNC. With all that said I have decided to put my two cents in on what is going on.
First, has anyone else noticed that most women don’t want a DNC to take place. I mean that’s what you have done when you loose a child.. You have to have a DNC to make sure no foreign matter is left in a woman’s uterus that could get infected. I’m just sayin.
Second, this whole issue with a 2/3 majority vote to allow God & Israel to be spoken of at the DNC. Did anyone know that the first priority of a Communist regime is to take away the peoples ability to worship or pray to their God. Who ever is is. This way the people have nothing greater than themselves to believe in and have no reason to keep any moral beliefs or values. So, that fact that God is unwanted at the DNC shows me the American People are also not wanted at the DNC. This country was built on religious freedom. The Pilgrims came to this land so they could worship as they pleased. Not so they would have zero rights to their faith. I hope the DNC participants will remember why they have the right to meet and bash God the way they do. I hope they will remember that it was men and women who fought for religious as well as personal freedoms. Men and Women who’s only thought was that some other Government or Dictator or Terrorist wasn’t going to tell them what to do, how to do it or when to do it. Prime example, a Government body that tells us we can’t enjoy a 32oz tasty beverage at the Movies because someone wants to force us to have a diet THEY feel is acceptable. But YEAH, it alright to not have God in our gatherings. I trolly hope the nay sayers just remember that one day they may be looking up to God on their death bed with tears in their eyes praying that God will forgive them of their trespasses. Asking God to treat them better then they treated others. Asking God not to judge them on their actions but to take mercy on them.
Third, if woman are so obsessed with having the right to decide what they can and can’t do with their bodies then they should be fully prepared to deal with the consequences of those decisions. The DNC is trying to tell all women that Republicans want to take away women’s rights to abortion and birth control. That is the BIGGEST crock I have ever heard of. I am a Fiscal/Social Conservative who is a Republican. I believe in a woman’s right to make choices about that happens to her own body. I believe that abortion should be legal so we don’t have a bunch of back street butchers cutting up women and their future dreams. But, and I mean this in the loudest voice I can say it in. I do not believe that abortions should be so easily accessible or paid for out of my tax dollars. I personally have had three healthy children and CHOOSE to have a tubal after the third so I would not have a forth. I could have made the decision to take the pill but after reading all the side effects and understanding that is is not 100% I choose to have a surgical procedure instead. Yes, it could have failed for one reason or another and I could have had to make a decision that I would have to live with for the rest of my life but it didn’t. I guess what I find so fascinating about all this is that one of my daughters is about to give birth to her second child. We are all very excited and can’t wait to meet the new addition. But after she has this baby her and her husband have decided that they do not want to have any more children. This is their decision to make. She wants to be responsible to her husband and children but a GOVERNMENT authority will not allow her to have a Tubal because of her age. Now, what the heck since does this make. She is a married mother of two and she is not allowed to have a procedure done to prevent future births. On the other hand if she were 17 and pregnant and walked into a clinic she could get an abortion without the permission of her parents or any counseling and it would be paid for by either our insurance or our tax dollars. Now please tell me what kind of since does this make????
So, just like a Baptist preacher I am only going to make my three points for now because what everyone has failed to see is that ultimately OUR financial future is the most pressing issue. With out a secure economic outlook we won’t have to worry if a woman can get an abortion or not because it won’t be paid for so it just won’t matter. Without a stronger economy more people will loose their job/house/future and it just won’t matter if Gays have equal rights or not. Especially when no one can afford food or clothing.
I heard a quote the other day on a radio talk show that, really for me at least, says it all.
How can you tell the difference between a Romney supporter and an Obama supporter?
One signs their check on the front and one signs their check on the back.

Found a very interesting site while I was helping my daughter coupon.  Wanted to share it with everyone.  Even if you don’t need to lose any weight everyone should be interested in eating healthier.  Choose My Plate is a government run web site.  Now, I am not interested in the Government telling me what to eat or how to live but I do like getting the info I want easily to live healthier.
